Pre-Employment Training
Prior to being welcomed as a member of our company, all prospective security officers must successfully complete our Basic Security Officer Training (BSOT) course. This 40-hour course covers the basic skills required by a PalAmerican security officer to succeed in his or her role, including patrolling, emergency response procedures, law, and fire safety, in addition to numerous other topics.
Pre-Assignment Training
All security officers at PalAmerican receive additional specialized training that is based on their site assignment and on the industries we serve. As an example, healthcare security officers receive between 40 and 120 hours of additional healthcare-specific training, depending on the type of facility, prior to being assigned to their site.
Site Training & Orientation
While starting off with a more capable and qualified security officer is important, it doesn’t help if the officer arrives at your facility with no understanding of what he or she is supposed to do. Because of this, PalAmerican uses the most advanced and up-to-date methods of documenting and delivering specialized site orientation training at every site that we protect.
Training for Advancement
As part of our company’s commitment to the ongoing training and education of our staff, we have created an advanced safety- and security-based course curriculum that is unmatched anywhere else in the security industry. We believe that education is the basis of a highly skilled security team, and we encourage all of our staff to actively participate in all of the ongoing training courses that we offer. By ensuring that ongoing training is a prerequisite for advancement, we enable our people to expand their horizons through additional courses, all of which are provided at no cost to our staff.
Online Training
PalAmerican has developed numerous training courses that are available to our security officers through our Employee Resource Center in a web-based, e-learning format. Our Learning Management System (LMS) is integrated with our HR and scheduling software systems in order to administer, document, track and analyze our extensive training programs and content.
Management Training
As a company that practices what it preaches, all PalAmerican management staff are offered company-paid business degrees or diplomas, in addition to company-paid Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designations through ASIS International, and Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) designations through the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS).
Client Training
PalAmerican’s trainers provide numerous ongoing training courses for our clients and our clients’ tenants at the facilities that we protect. Examples range from lunch ’n learns on personal safety to extensive hands-on training in managing aggressive behavior.
