ANCHORAGE, ALASKA
Recently, a powerful 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Anchorage, Alaska. The horrifying disaster caused rooms to sway, bridges to buckle and roads to fracture, yet amazingly, no deaths were reported.
In any instance like this, the aftermath is chaotic to say the least. Communication is limited and updates regarding injuries, death and damages are difficult to come by.
However, in this instance PalAmerican was contacted to have our Security Officers on standby. In this situation, our Officers would be sent to Anchorage from across the nation to assist in protecting significant infrastructure.
A number of Security Officers jumped at the opportunity to help and were willing to drop everything to get on a plane to Anchorage. In many cases, our Officers did not even ask any questions, as they were prepared to start packing and make their way to the nearest airport.
Fortunately, by the evening enough information was gathered from staff and engineering to determine that the risk of the infrastructure was manageable and they were able to continue with the cleanup and repairs. The team were stood down from mobilizing.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all of those that were willing and able to assist - that truly is the PalAmerican difference! The contact was grateful for the support offered and we are all thankful that in the end, there was no loss of life and the city is well underway to recovering from this devastating event.
