We are proud to announce that Texas Security Supervisor Lori Tavarez has been honored with the prestigious International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety’s Valor Award! The IAHSS Foundation Recognition Program promotes and recognizes overall excellence and outstanding contributions to healthcare security.
The Valor Award is presented to a person for a selfless and / or courageous act taken at the risk of their own life with full awareness of the danger involved.
Lori was presented with the award for successfully stopping a man from harming babies in a NICU. While on patrol, Lori responded to a call involving a man attempting to force his way into the NICU. When she got there, she found that he had already entered the unit and was trying to harm a baby. Lori quickly intervened, attempting to restrain the man. He resisted and ran back into the nursery before attempting to gain access to labor and delivery. In the end, Lori was able to successfully detain the person and have them taken into custody when law enforcement arrived. Read more about Lori’s efforts here!
Congratulations, Lori! Keep up the amazing work.
