How to Become a Security Officer in the United States: A Step-by-Step Guide

How to Become a Security Officer:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Have your High School Diploma or GED
  • Apply for a Security License in your area
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check & Drug Screen & Re-Screening as necessary
  • Have a state issued ID or valid Driver’s License (this makes you a more desirable candidate, and eligible for mobile patrol positions)
  • Obtain & maintain any applicable licenses or certifications necessary in your state.
  • Be physically able to stand and/or walk for an entire work shift, and move or lift objects up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person & in writing

How to Become a Healthcare Shift Supervisor:

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Have your High School Diploma or GED
  • Have a Security License in your area or be willing to apply for one
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check & Drug Screen & Re-Screening as necessary
  • Have a state issued ID or valid Driver’s License
  • Partake is health screening requirements prior to start date (see above)
  • Obtain & maintain any applicable licenses or certifications
  • Be physically able to stand and/or walk for an entire work shift, and move or lift objects up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person & in writing
